The World Health organisation declared 2020 the Year of the Nurse and Midwife. Although there are 22 million nurses worldwide, the demand for a growing nursing workforce continues to help support our ageing community.
This month we introduce you to one of our long-standing nurses Donna. Donna not only cares for our clients in their homes, providing wound, personal care and medication support, she is also one of our qualified Flu Vaccination nurses. She is often in our Caringbah community office fielding nursing enquiries and admissions as the second-in-charge to Martina our Program Manager, Nursing.
We asked Donna what she enjoys most in her role.
“I enjoy the clinical work, getting to know people and helping to find solutions to patient and family needs. I enjoy the on the road nature of the role visiting people in our local community who may not otherwise have health support. The social aspect of making a difference to someone’s day is another rewarding part of my work.”
